After leaving Nowish Cove we motor by the Spirit Bear Lodge in Klemtu. They route tours to search for spirit bears in this area.
Klemtu is the home of the Kitasoo Band. We don’t stop we just pass the town by on our way up the inside passage.
The rain and wind comes in as we motor towards Alaska. As luck would have it the wind is blowing in our direction. We raise the main and roll out the headsail. We have a great sail toward Butedale as we head up Graham Reach.
Our first sign of Butedale is the magnificent falls that is formed by the outflow of the Butedale Lake Butedate is now a ghost town, and is slowing being torn down. This place was once a thieving fish packing plant. The plant closed in 1950.
The owner of Butedale allowed us to tie to the dock and explore the place as long as we didn’t leave the dock.
The owner didn’t say I couldn’t explore the place in my dinghy.
It rained hard on the way to Bishops Bay, so no video was shot. Eventually the rain let up which allowed us to fly the drone and check out Bishops Bay Hot Springs.
The hot spring has a couple of pools, one outdoor and one under cover.
There was also a shower.
