This morning I was up working on my journal at 0638. By looking outside I can tell it is going to be a better day than yesterday. While finished up writing in my journal I could hear the other guys up.
Today I decided we wouldn’t go that far, we will only be going to Anacortes. I make us all pancakes for breakfast. We pull out of Deer Harbor around 0930.
I didn’t time our departure based on current, but as it turns out we mainly had the current with us this morning. There wasn’t much wind out so we motored all the way to Thatcher Passage and then about ½ way to Guemes Channel before there was enough wind to sail. I rolled out the jib and turned off the motor. We sailed all the way up to the green can that marks the entrance into Guemes Channel, almost which took about an hour and then wind lightened up and we were not going fast enough to buck the current to get through the channel. Therefore in came the jib and on came the motor. We motored the rest of the way to Anacortes.
Inside the marina I was able to get a spot at the reciprocal dock. I had to tie outside a powerboat that was from Bremerton.
All afternoon I stayed on the boat and relaxed. Today it was more internet browsing and sleeping. The neighbor next to us gave use some crab that some another boat gave him. For dinner we had the crab along with mash potatoes and bread.
It was great just to lay around another day. If only I could stretch out my adventure a little longer.
