Nordic Sun II Planning on Doing Southeast Alaska in Spring and Summer 2018

I’m planning on retiring from my long-term State of Washington job this spring. This year I plan to take Nordic Sun II to southeast Alaska. I plan to be gone for about 3 ½ month. Since my wife Heather can’t get that much time off I will be having 3 guys help me get the boat to Alaska.   Heather will then fly in to see the sights of Alaska, then together we will bring the boat back.

This year I will have three guys helping me deliver the boat to Alaska. They will be:

Marty Larsen – My brother
Rod Stout – An old windsurfing/sailing buddy
Frank Lawley – An old sailing crew member

We plan to take the boat from Tacoma, Washington to Wrangle, Alaska. The distance is around 750 nautical to get there.

I asked each of the crew what they would like to see in Alaska:

Frank – Quite anchorages
Rod – Great Fishing and having a cold drink using 10,000 year old ice cube
Marty – Bears

Some might ask me what I want to see. It would be glaciers, bear, good fishing, good friendships and lots of new places to explore.
